SMP 2020 Reimagined

As you know, we had to cancel our planned SMP 2020 work with Habitat for Humanity in Staunton, Virginia due to COVID-19 - our first cancellation in 30 years.

However, we are committed to ensuring that SMP 2020 will still make a significant difference in the lives of others. We challenge all of you next week — June 22–26 — to find some way to serve in your local community. Based on social distancing guidelines and other COVID-19 related restrictions, it might be something you have to do on your own (or as a family) and could be as simple as donating to a local organization. We've compiled an initial list of suggestions as a starting point, with direct links if available. We also wanted to share this list of anti-racism resources that afford ways to take action that support racial equality. There are also countless more options. Be creative and do something that has special meaning to you!

If possible, please email a photo of your service project to me at so we can compile all of the SMP 2020 service projects together! Make sure to send the original/actual size!

And we know that SMP week is not just about the service, so we've scheduled two Zoom sessions (one AM, one PM) - links below - to simply catch up with one another! Please join us for one or both as your schedule permits. Some of you haven't been on an SMP trip in a long time and others had signed up this year for the very first time — we hope to see all of you!

If there are any questions, don't hesitate to reach out. I know we will all miss being together next week, but the spirit of SMP is alive and well in all of us!
